Earn money for the band programs each time you buy groceries or gas with your King Soopers and Safeway grocery cards. Use the cards at any Kroger-owned (King Soopers) or Albertsons-owned (Safeway) grocery store, and these generous companies donate 5% to our General Fund. Learn more about how to get your cards and how to earn year-round for the band without spending anything extra.
There are many ways to be a Band Sponsor! Whether you gift money or in-kind goods, we have developed wonderful benefits to recognize every level in our program. Visit our Sponsorship page to learn why we need your support, how we put it to use, and how sponsorship benefits your business through positive association with our nonprofit band programs.
Centaurus High School Marching Band is preparing for its 2018 competition season, which means that our annual Marchathon is coming up soon. On Saturday, August 25, 2018, the marching band will don their uniforms and “march” door-to-door throughout our BVSD-CHS “neighborhood” (over 10,000 homes). Our band is a point of community pride, and the students work hard all day, meeting our neighbors and soliciting financial support! The Lafayette/Erie community always comes through in a big way for the Centaurus Warriors Marching Band, and it’s extremely important that every student participates in this fun (and essential) day of fundraising. Parent volunteers are always needed to drive and to serve lunch.
During this summer’s Band Camp (7/23/18 to 8/1/18), students will mail, email, tweet and tag friends and family living outside of Lafayette with this “virtual” appeal. The social media/letter-writing campaign extends our annual door-to-door Marchathon event’s reach beyond people living in Centaurus’ home area (Lafayette and parts of Erie).
Teams of 2 or 3-4 puzzlers battle against the clock and each other to be the first to complete the same 500-piece jigsaw puzzle. Champions from each category, in-person and virtual, will get bragging rights plus a grand prize! All are welcome: students, teachers, family, friends and our community at large.
It's a wonderful way to spend a chilly Colorado Saturday morning in February with friends!
We will provide:
- A complimentary 500-piece puzzle per team
- Bagels, coffee, tea, and refreshments (please bring your own cup; this is a zero-waste event)
- Curated jazz standards playing in the background
- Amazing door prizes
For Virtual Participants:
Drive-through puzzle pick-up in front of Centaurus on February 5th at 9 am-10:30 am.
Live competition from home alongside in-person event at 11:00 am.
Zoom link will be sent out two days prior to competition.
For In-Person Participants:
Check-in at Centaurus begins at 10:30 am (masks are required).
You will be given a wrapped puzzle and you pick your table.
Puzzle unwrapping and competition begins at 11:00 am.
At 11:00am sharp, teams will unwrap, dump, and begin puzzling. All puzzling must be done at the table (no moving around). Stretching is allowed! Peeking is allowed and unavoidable, but not interfering at any other team’s table!
Please, no food or drinks will be allowed at the tables. Headlamps are allowed if you need extra light. Team names are encouraged (and have fun with it – an example from another competition is "The Justices of the Pieces").
If you are not able to participate but want to help boost school spirit, please consider making a donation of any amount towards making this community event a big success. For more information, please contact J&J coordinator and band parent Liane Cutforth at email@example.com.
- Our goal is to send nothing to the landfill or incinerator and to conserve our natural resources. Please bring your reusable water bottles & travel mugs (with lids!) for your coffee and tea. Thanks for your support!
Colorado Gives Day — Give Where You Live
CHS Band is proud to participate in Colorado Gives Day, an annual statewide movement to celebrate and increase philanthropy in Colorado. You can contribute through ColoradoGives.org, and CHS will receive a portion of Colorado Gives matching funds. Give on the specific Colorado Gives Day each year or designate your gift ahead of time. Click the button to donate.
Colorado Gives Day features a $1 Million Incentive Fund, created by Community First Foundation and FirstBank. It is one of the largest gives-day incentive funds in the country. Every donation made through ColoradoGives.org on Colorado Gives Day is boosted by the incentive fund, which increases the value of every dollar. For example, if a nonprofit organization receives 10 percent of the total donations made on Colorado Gives Day, that same nonprofit receives 10 percent of the $1 Million Incentive Fund. An additional $100,000 in prizes, sponsored by FirstBank, gives nonprofits an opportunity to win cash for their worthwhile causes.
